It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry
Joseph Kenneth Ellis of West Cape, Prince Edward Island, on Wednesday
July 15th, 2026, at Prince County Hospital. Born May 24, 1947. Barry
was the eldest son of Ada (nee MacIsaac) and the late Kenneth
Ellis.
Barry farmed alongside his father and later ran a bed
& breakfast out of his home in West Cape, welcoming guests for
years. He lived right beside the family farm, in a house that he and
his father built together.
Barry always looked forward to family get-togethers, and he
loved a good meal shared with the people he cared about. He loved to
travel, with trips to Israel, Greece, Cuba, Cape Canaveral and Florida
among his favourites. Barry had a great love of space, and memories
from those trips include watching shuttle and rocket launches,
visiting the Kennedy Space Center, surfing, snorkelling and building
the occasional sand sculpture with family.
At home, Barry was especially good with his nieces and
nephews and was always ready with a project, a ride, or an adventure
for them. He was well known for building stilts for them to play on,
and had a passion for his sports car, often taking them for rides in
his Camaro. He also had a keen interest in politics and enjoyed a good
debate on theology as well. Barry will always be remembered for his
love of family, his spontaneity, and the countless memories he leaves
behind.
Besides his mother Ada, Barry is survived by his sister Nancy
Fox (predeceased by her husband Don); his sister Paula Docksteader
(Ron); and his brother Steven Ellis (Joan). He will also be dearly
missed by his many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews,
who loved and cherished him.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his
mercies never come to an end;
they are new every
morning;
great is your faithfulness.
