The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday June 9, 2026 at Western Hospital, Alberton of Hazel Annie Buchanan (nee Harris), formerly of O’Leary. Beloved wife of George Buchanan. Hazel was born in Knutsford on February 24, 1938 daughter of the late Guy and Jennie (Waite) Harris.

Loving mother to Lonnie (Mary Jean O’Brien) Alberton, Kevin (Debra Steeves), Summerside, Glenda (Raymond Hardy), Carleton Lot 6, Adele (Randy) Cooke, Cape Wolfe, Blain (Amy), O’Leary, Larry (Joy), Knutsford. Cherished grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren.

Dear sister to Wyman (Carol), Cascumpec, Muncey (Leah), Knutsford and sister in law to Myrna Ellis, Ontario and special aunt to Sarah Murray, Ontario.

Hazel was predeceased by her parents, sisters Glennis MacDonald and Greta Tuplin.

Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home & Chapel O’Leary, with visiting hours on Friday June 12, 2026 from 1:30 – 3:45 p.m. Funeral service in the Chapel at 4:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the People’s Cemetery, Mount Royal.

Hazel’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, lab and x-ray techs and all staff at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Hospital for the care of their beloved Hazel. They would also wish to express their sincere thank you to all of those that visited and brought food and comfort. Thanks to Pastor Ross Morrison and Pastor David Filsinger for their spirtual guidance and prayers during this difficult time.
