The death occurred suddenly, as a result of an automobile accident at East Bideford, on Friday, June 27, 2025 of Karissa-Jo Mary Elizabeth Bernard of Lennox Island aged 22. Karissa-Jo was born on February 24, 2003 in Summerside, cherished daughter of Emily Bernard (Darren Tuplin) and Michael Vardy (Tina Parise). Granddaughter to Christine Bernard (late Peter) and Clayton (Annette) Vardy. 

Dear sister to Taylor Vardy-Gavin (Conner), Alyssa-Jo Bernard, Ethan Cameron Bernard, Jenessa-Jo French and Matissa-Jo French. Aunt to her Godchild Kyrie Patrick Bernard and Kowen Bernard. Special Aunty to Lexi, Luka, Loni and Byrnn Bernard. She will be missed by her puppy Baby Bear.

Karissa-Jo will be missed by Godmothers Chief Tabatha Bernard (Grant Pye), Cathy Bernard (Wendell), Godfather Darren Mushrow and Godfather and Uncle Peter Jo Bernard (Jill). She will also be missed by her aunt Laura Bernard, uncle Steven Bowser, special cousins Godchild Psalm Lewis, Keagan Bernard, Kaydence Bernard (Kai Smith), Paige Bernard (Kyle Sark), Peter Levi, Damien Levi, Jasper Bernard and the the rest of her extended family.

Forwarded from Ferguson Funeral Home to the home of Karissa-Jo's grandmother Christine Bernard, 181 Sweet Grass Trail, Lennox Island First Nation for visiting hours on Thursday afternoon and evening. Funeral Mass on Friday at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Lennox Island First Nation at 11:00a.m. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
