The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his family at Community Hospital, O’Leary on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 of Joseph "Joe" Leonard Thomas, of Lennox Island First Nation, aged 77, loving husband to Marlene (Sapier) Thomas. Joe was born in Truro, N.S on March 22, 1947, son of the late Josephine Thomas MacLean.

Cherished father to Patsy Thomas Gavin, Lenny (Jamie) Thomas, Randy Thomas, Paula (Jonathan) Thomas Clory, Irene (Mike) Kilbride, Christopher (Connie) Sapier, Robert (Lor) Augustine, Joseph (Rhonda) Thomas, Nicole, Jeanine and Natalie. Loving grandfather to 43 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Dear brother to Willy (Karen), Donnie and Gregory (Christine).

Joe was predeceased by his mother, 1st wife Irene Sanipass, son Jeffery, granddaughter Jenna, Nevaeh and Jeanette.

Forwarded from Ferguson Tyne Valley Funeral Chapel to the home of his son Joseph & Rhonda Thomas at 46 Hawkeye Path, Lennox Island, First Nation on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. until Friday then to St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church for funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.
