The death occurred at the Palliative Care Unit at Western Hospital Alberton on March 26, 2024, with members of his loving family by his side, Eric John Jones of Trainor Road, aged 73 years. Son of the late Alfred and Cora (Murphy) Jones. Lovingly remembered by brothers and sisters, Nellie Jones, Roseville, Patrick (Margaret) Jones, Edmonton, Alb., Irma (Richard) Teed, Ottawa, Ont., Ken (Gert) Tignish. Predeceased by parents, Alfred and Cora (Murphy) Jones; brothers and sisters Eleanor, Percy, Oscar, Carol, and Eldon.

Special uncle to Colleen Jones Pottinger, Brian Jones, Tracey Teed Martin, Trevor Teed, Derek Teed, Melissa Teed, Vickie Jones, Randy Jones, Lynn Jones, Julia Eley, Lisa Jones, Kendra MacEachern, Michael Jones, Valerie Jones, Tanya Gaudet and Cora Lee Stewart; as well as his numerous grand nieces and nephews.

Eric will be remembered for his strong faith in the Lord and devotion to Saint Anne, where he and Nellie thoroughly enjoyed their bus rides to Saint Anne de Beaupre Pilgrimages over the years. Sir Knight Eric Jones is a member of the Cyrus J Gallant council of the Knights of Columbus in Bloomfield and a 4th Degree member of the Rev A. E. MacEachern Assembly #0988.

Eric truly loved being with his family. His love and devotion for his big sister Nellie was special to witness. Many trips were made to Church services, Parish Picnics, listening to Helping Hands Band, Stompin’ Tom Centre, Lobster Suppers, Moncton trips and so much more. Eric was blessed to have lived a full life.

Eric was a hard-working man in whatever he did. He worked for the Department of Forestry for over 30 years before retiring his chainsaw. Eric took after his big brother Ken with running in many PEI Marathons in his earlier days.

Eric was an avid Montreal Canadiens Fan and looked forward to watching hockey games with great nephew Mack. Eric had the trip of a lifetime in the fall of 2023 where he finally got to watch his favourite team play in Montreal. Eric cherished the special relationship he had with his grand nieces and nephews and loved spending time with them and watching them grow.

Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary with visiting hours Tuesday from 6-9. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Woodstock, Wednesday at 11:00 am. 

Knights from Cyrus J. Gallant Knights of Columbus will hold a prayer service at the funeral home Tuesday at 5:45pm.

We, the members of Eric’s family, would sincerely like to thank the members of Eric’s medical team for taking great care of Eric during his time of illness. A heartfelt thank you to Eric’s amazing neighbours and friends for all that you’ve done for Eric, Nellie, and all our family to make these last two years easier. Your efforts did not go un notice.
