It is with
deep sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Donald Rogers, a
true farmer at heart, who departed this world on November 10, 2023
just 4 days short of his 80th birthday. Russell was born and raised on
the family century farm in the Brae, where his love for the land and
his dedication to hard work blossomed. He found joy in his Landman
Truck and cherished his John Deere tractor, which were symbols of his
passion for farming and his connection to the earth.
Russell's intelligence and dedication led him to work with the Government, where he was Director of Assessment for the Island. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through when he opened Country Estates Real Estate Company in the County Fair Mall, Summerside. He furthered his education to become a respected real estate appraiser.
Throughout his life, Russell was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbors. He took immense pride in his property in MALPEQUE, where he tirelessly cut the 40+ acres of grass, showcasing his love for the land with pride of ownership.
Russell is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Kathleen (Kay) Rogers, his stepdaughters Tami (Jeff) MacNeill, Traci (Blair) Creelman. He also leaves behind his son Dr. Sean (Annette) Rogers, daughters Dr. Angela (Drew) Barreth, and Michaella. He leaves to mourn his 10 grandchildren: Dr Katrina, Rebecca, Andrew, Bethany, Ned, Keelin, Miriam, Nathan, Eva and Ashton. Dear brother to Rev. Sandra Rogers, Ann (Ron) Turner, Susan Rogers, Stephen (Kathy) Rogers, Alex (Michelle) Rogers and sister in law Barb Rogers. Special Uncle to Justin Rogers, along with many other nieces and nephews.
Russell was predeceased by his brother John, and his parents Harris and Helena.
A private family celebration of life will be held to honor Russell's remarkable journey, with burial taking place in the Brae United Church.
